Souhei Sagara, a university student who champions the solitary lifestyle, lives next to the sparkling and fashionable beauty, Haruko, in his run-down apartment.

Haruko seemed like a creature from a different world compared to the drab Sagara. However, she actually was… a plain girl with no makeup who had successfully made her dazzling university debut!

Upon learning her secret, Sagara decides to help the defenseless Haruko to maintain his solo living.

“If you can become a sparkling girl, you won’t need to involve me anymore, right?”

“Sagara-kun, you’re so stubborn…”

If her true face is revealed, will her rosy campus life crumble for sure?!

This drama has been quite engaging so far, featuring a relatable college新人 girl and a reserved guy with a complex background whose story is yet to be fully delved into in the translation. The pacing has been well-balanced, and the characters have been portrayed authentically with distinct personalities. While some may perceive the main character as gloomy and rigid, it's important to note that he's not inherently bad, just somewhat stiff. As we uncover his past, it becomes intriguing, leaving me genuinely excited to see how the story unfolds. In essence, I can't express higher praise for the series.

The translation for this text is quite good. The light novel is intriguing and executed well, featuring relatable characters. The main character is a typical loner with a troubled background, while the female lead (FMC) stands out with her own past. She's a more compelling character and one I enjoyed. The overall story is solid, but not groundbreaking.

One aspect I'm hoping will be addressed in Volume 2 is a spoiler: the MC doesn't delve deeply into his past with Haruko even when they return to their hometown. The limited information shared leaves much to be desired and gives the impression that there's a significant backstory that wasn't fully explained (the mother's comment about wishing he wasn't born). This aspect felt underdeveloped and frustrating to me. I'm uncertain how the sequel will handle this, but I hope it won't introduce unnecessary drama.
